Would Anyone Else Like to See Sting Come Back as the Original Stinger?
But, with this Joker character, it's just a bad idea, even on paper. I get how it's supposed to fit into his character, but watching a 50 some year old Sting jump around and trying to be Heath Ledger is just pathetic. He shouldn't have to do things like that to stay relevant; he's friggin' Sting, for crying out loud. Even the WWE admits that he's a legend by putting him in their DVDs when he never even wrestled for them. The terrible secret about The Dark Knight is that even Heath Ledger playing the Joker himself was sometimes hammy and hokey, but he was such a great actor he made it work. Sting is not an Oscar caliber actor. I think that's a pretty big understatement, too. Sting cannot make this cool, unlike he did with The Crow gimmick. Then there's also the allegations that TNA stole this idea from an Indy wrestler and gave it to Sting or whatever. That just makes it more depressing that The Icon is stealing his new gimmicks from Indy guys.
Basically, to answer the OP, yes, I would love for the original Stinger to make one last run, especially compared to what he is doing, now. That's the legend he was at first, that's the legend he should be remembered as, in the end. His legacy is so great that if he did finally do a WWE match before he hung up the boots, and I'm so sorry to beat that very dead horse, but if he ever did, I'd pretty much rather see him as the original Sting. I know a lot of people want Crow Sting vs Undertaker, but I think if he still dressed in black like he did before he picked up the Crow gimmick in WCW, it would still talk enough like the duck for us to recognize it and enjoy the walk. I'd love to see Stinger one last time.
