Who is M Lamar? ‘OITNB’ star Laverne Cox thanks twin brother for emotional support

Written by Chloe Ramirez — 0 Views

Laverne Cox, who stars in the show “Orange Is the New Black,” has talked about how hard it is to be transgender and work in Hollywood. She says she is grateful to have kept a strong relationship with her brother M. Lamar, who is also a member of the LGBTQ community.

Lamar is a musician, and he has even worked with Cox on the series “Orange is the New Black.” Lamar plays the character in scenes that show Cox before she changed. After the show ended, Cox became the first transgender person to be on the cover of Cosmopolitan and the first transgender person to have a regular role on US broadcast TV. She was also nominated for Primetime Emmy and other awards.

“I love my brother so much. He has been my moral compass in so many ways over the years. “I run things by him and he’s like, ‘What do you think?’ We’re twins, so we’ve known each other our whole lives,” Cox told The List, citing Indiewire. “We have a great relationship with each other, and we have a lot of respect for each other as artists and as people. So I’m glad I got to share a little bit of this show and this moment with him,” she said.

What is M. Lamar?

His official website says that M. Lamar is a “composer who works in opera, metal, performance, video, sculpture, and installation to make sprawling stories of radical becoming.” His work has been shown at the Wellcome Collection in London, The Cloisters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other places.

Laverne and Lamar are twins with the same DNA. They grew up in Alabama with their mother and grandmother. On the July 25 episode of the reality show “Claim to Fame,” contestant X was kicked off, and it turned out that he was Lamar.

After Lark lost her challenge in the episode, she was put in charge of guessing. The most votes told her that she had to guess who a celebrity housemate was on the show. Most of the housemates thought that Lark would reveal Brittany’s identity, but in a surprise move, she decided to reveal X’s identity instead. She did this to save herself from being voted out because she guessed it right.

Some of the contestants have already told the show who they are, but they are all keeping their families from each other. Before the July 11 premiere of this season’s “Claim to Fame,” promotional videos said that Zendaya, Simone Biles, Whoopi Goldberg, and Chuck Norris’s relatives will be on the show.
