Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Causes

The varicella-zoster virus that induces Ramsay Hunt syndrome is the same virus that renders chickenpox and shingles.

In people with this syndrome, the virus is supposed to contaminate the facial nerve almost the inner ear. This induces disturbance and bragging in the veins.

The disease mostly affects adults. In rare cases, it is seen in children.

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome  Treatment

Strong anti-inflammatory drugs called steroids are usually given for this illness. And maybe given antiviral drugs, such as acyclovir or valacyclovir.

Occasionally more decisive anesthetics are required if the pain restarts even with steroids.

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome Recovery Time

Ramsay Hunt is a localized syndrome and this illness does not affect the rest of the body. It can affect anyone and mostly affect adults.

The doctor told me it can be ‘cured with antivirals and steroids’ and it takes six weeks to three months for the patient to recover.
