A Georgia preacher named Aubrey Lee Price, who later worked as a banker, investment adviser, and fugitive, was handed the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison in 2014 by Judge B. Avant Edenfield of the United States District Court. Price was convicted of running a Ponzi scheme that was comparable to the one that Bernie Madoff operated. Price would be required to make restitution to the victims of his fraud to the tune of approximately $46 million.

Aubrey not only stated that she had travelled to South America while she was on the run, but she also claimed that she had worked as a drug dealer, a cage fighter, and a pimp during this time. During that same period, the authorities believed that he was running a marijuana grow out of a trailer.

In an unpublished book, Aubrey admitted that he formulated plans to use the bank’s assets for ventures that he expected would return more significant profits. These investments were planned to use the bank’s funds. Aubrey ultimately conceded that she was responsible for one count of bank fraud, wire fraud, and securities fraud.

While Aubrey was growing up in Georgia, he spent a lot of time fishing and playing tennis with his brother. In 1987, he began devoting his time and energy to the church, which led to him finally earning a bachelor’s degree in ministry.
