W. Paul Bowers biography

W. Paul Bowers is President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Georgia Power Co., since December 31, 2010. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Bowers served as the chief operating officer of the Company from August 2010 to December 2010. He previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Southern Company from January 2008 to August 2010. He serves on the boards of Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited and Aflac Incorporated, and he serves on the University System of Georgia Board of Regents. He is chairman of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and vice chairman of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation. He is also a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's energy advisory council and a trustee of the Woodruff Arts Center and Georgia Historical Society.
