A disturbing video circulating the internet shows a Jeep chain snap in an attempted rescue mission to save the vehicle from drowning in deep mud.

Footage of a Jeep, a large four-wheel drive vehicle, stuck in deep mud has circulated social media after the attempted rescue incident did not end well for the people involved.

A TikTok creator named @edmundrambo recently shared a clip of the footage onto the video-sharing platform and urged viewers not to try the attempted rescue using a chain.

Edmund Rambo explains that the following clip of the video shows disturbing footage of the Jeep driver lying in a hospital video.

In an overlay video, the TikToker provides context for the situation and explains that a group of friends were out mudding on a very muddy trail.

Mudding is off-roading through an area of wet mud or clay. The goal is to drive through as far as possible without getting stuck.

The video captured shows a driver inside a Jeep stuck in deep mud, so the people around decided to use a chain to help him out of the situation.

Edmund Rambo’s upload has currently reached over 3 million views, more than 220,000 likes, and a comment section full of intrigued and horrified viewers.

The full video has been shared on Reddit and can be found by searching ‘MMC when chain snaps’, but the TikTok creator advises viewers to avoid watching the entire clip of the incident.

Using chains to rescue vehicles can be dangerous

In a second part of the TikTok video, @edmundrambo explains that using chains to pull vehicles out of struggle can be very dangerous:

“Chains may sometimes be put under too much pressure, or they have a weak link, and they might snap.”

If someone is then positioned in the snap-back zone and the chain fires back toward them, this can unfortunately cause serious damage to the person involved.

The creator continues to state that the reason chains are “so dangerous” is because “they are metal and when they do decide to snap they fling back with a great amount of force”, warning users that they “can be deadly.”

Why tow straps should be used instead of chains

Instead of using chains to rescue a vehicle from being stuck in the mud, vehicle owners should rather be using tow straps.
