USB chargers sold at IKEA recalled due to burn, shock hazards

(WHTM) — Thousands of USB chargers sold by IKEA are being recalled due to burn and electric shock hazards.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says more than 32,000 ÅSKSTORM 40W USB Chargers sold in the United States and Canada have cables that can break or become damaged over time.

The broken cables can lead to electric shock and burn hazards for users. There have been 17 incidents reported internationally, including five reports of burns and four reports of electrical shock. No incidents have been reported in the United States.

The gray chargers, which were sold at IKEA online and in stores from April 2020 through December 2023, have model number ICPSW5-40-1 printed on the label on the backside.
