Suns’ Kevin Durant Tweaks Nets’ Cam Thomas With ‘Too Small’ Gesture in Return to Brooklyn

Written by Olivia Shea — 0 Views

In his first game back in Brooklyn, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant could've opted for a conciliatory tone—especially with his new team so far ahead of the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA's pecking order.

Fortunately for Suns fans, the word "conciliatory" does not seem to exist in Durant's basketball vocabulary.

Durant exploded for 33 points, five rebounds and eight assists as Phoenix coasted to a nationally televised 136–120 victory Wednesday evening. After one particularly tough bucket on Nets guard Cam Thomas late in the third quarter, Durant flashed the "too small" gesture to the crowd while mouthing the word, "Mini."

After the game, Durant told reporters he intended the gesture as a teachable moment for his former teammate.

"Anytime I can score on Cam (I'm gonna) talk s--- to him, man," Durant said. "We've been doing that since I've known him. I'm sure there's gonna be many more moments like that. He's my brother and I gotta teach him a lesson if he gonna guard me out there."

Thomas, for his part, led Brooklyn in scoring with 25 points.
