Sheila Bellush Death Case:- A 13-year-old girl came home from school on November 7, 1997, to discover her mother dead from a gunshot wound to the head, with her neck cut, and two of her mother’s 2-year-old quadruplets crawling in her blood.

An episode of the CNBC program “Blood & Money” is dedicated to the 35-year-old Sheila Bellush’s homicide in Sarasota. Dick Wolf, the creator of “Law & Order,” produced the show, which aired on Tuesday and can be seen on CNBC, CNBC Prime, or Peacock.

Bellush and San Antonio millionaire Allen Blackthorne divorced in 1989 after a contentious custody battle over their two children. (She had her quadruplets in her subsequent marriage to Jamie Bellush). Bellush relocated to Florida in 1997; six weeks later, she passed away there.

Her husband James Bellush, who was at work when she was killed, and her daughter, who was in school, had last seen her when she was still living. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement that Jose Luis Del Toro, a 21-year-old Texas man, was sought for first-degree murder four days after she was killed.

He reportedly spent the night before her death at a hotel in Sarasota, according to officials, and his fingerprint was discovered on her clothes dryer.

What Happened To Sheila

When a man broke into her house and fatally shot and stabbed her, she was at home with her small children. The teenager sobbed, “My mom is dead,” according to the St. Petersburg Times.

The phone is covered in blood, and she has a laceration on her neck. Although Jose Luis Del Toro was identified as the murderer early on in the investigation, authorities were still attempting to determine how the attacker and victim were connected.

What Is The Timeline Of The Sheila Bellush Case?

On November 17, 1997, officials were able to apprehend two San Antonio men, Daniel Alex Rocha, 29, and Samuel Gonzales, 27, for their roles in the planning of the murder of Sheila Bellush, despite the fact that Del Toro had fled to Mexico.

Gonzalez and Rocha were charged with soliciting the murder of a person for the purpose of execution on December 16, 1997, by a Texas grand jury. They were accused of hiring Del Toro to assassinate Sheila Bellush.

Del Toro could now be extradited from Mexico as Sarasota prosecutors declined to seek the death sentence against him on December 17, 1997. Rocha claimed that Blackthorne started the plan to harm Sheila Bellush on August 23, 1998. According to him, the goal was to frighten her rather than murder her.

Investigation

At that point, authorities discovered that millionaire Allen Blackthorne, Bellush’s ex-husband and the father of her two oldest children, was responsible for the crime. Authorities discovered that Blackthorne had grown agitated over a custody dispute with Bellush at the time of her death.

At the time, prosecutors claimed Blackthorne offered $54,000 to have Bellush killed along with a bonus if he was successful in getting back custody of the two daughters his ex-wife’s new spouse had adopted. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Del Toro admitted guilt to charges of both homicide and burglary.

Court Judgement

Blackthorne was convicted of murder-for-hire and domestic violence on July 6, 1998, after a 12-member jury deemed him guilty. 2014 saw the death in custody of Blackthorne. All three of Del Toro, Gonzales, and Rocha received life sentences.

Jamie Bellush relocated to New Jersey with his quadruplets and one of Sheila’s children from her marriage to Blackthorne after Sheila’s murder. In Oregon, a second girl resides with a relative.
