Sanders-Galvez, 2 others accused in assault of correctional officer
One of three inmates accused in a brutal assault on a Des Moines County correctional officer is a name familiar to Local 4 News viewers.
Jorge Sanders-Galvez, 23, was tried earlier this year in the rape and murder of a gender fluid teen named Kedarie Johnson.
According to a news release from the Des Moines County Correctional Center, Sanders-Galvez, Earl Riley Booth-Harris and Bobby Joe Morris are all accused in an assault that happened in the Male Max area of the jail.
Corrections officers were conducting a search after receiving information that inmates had made homemade liquor, or ‘hooch’.
Also facing charges, Booth-Harris, 24, and Morris, 26.
Sanders-Galvez and Booth-Harris have been moved to the prison at Fort Madison.
Morris was taken to the Oakdale Classification Center.
The injured officer has been admitted to the Great River Medical Center for his injuries. A second officer also sustained injuries in the attack.
