PREY: 10 Memes That Perfectly Sum Up The New Predator Movie
The wait is over! Fans have been waiting for the fifth Predator movie Prey for months, and it’s finally here. Hulu members can stream both the English and Comanche version now. The film has received some much-deserved high praise and is regarded by many as the best Predator film in years.
Naturally, fans have taken to the universal internet language to share their excitement: memes. Many aspects of the film have been memeified including popular characters, truly incredible scenes, and history-making achievements. Prey has also inspired some truly great memes that captured the spirit and humor of the film.
Iconic Native American Woman vs. Yautja
Prey features a predominantly Native American cast portraying Comanches in the year 1719. Amber Midthunder stars as Naru, a woman looking to prove herself as a hunter by performing kühtaamia, a trial in which the hunter must defeat a beast hunting them.
Alien Vs. Predator and 9 Other Times Characters From Different Franchises Faced Off On Screen
Naru has become an instant icon among cinema’s Native American characters. This meme swaps her out with another famous Native American woman, Pocahontas, as seen in the 1990s Disney Animated film. Time will tell who will be the more iconic character, but we like Naru’s odds.
The ‘Feral Predator’ Has A Brand New Design
The Predator has a new design conceived specifically for the film. In a youtube video from the film’s premier, Director Dan Trachtenberg explained the lore behind the new design. Just as different ethnicities emerged from different parts of our own world, the ‘Feral Predator’ comes from a continent of the Predator home world where Yautja evolved to be more animalist.

It should be noted that there has been a mixed reception to the Predator’s new look. While many fans love the new look and the well-thought-out changes, there are also those who wish to return to Stan Winston’s original Yautja from the 1987 film.
Prey Is An Essential Experience, Especially For Native Americans
Prey is a groundbreaking film for Native American movie fans and the first film ever dubbed in Comanche. Alongside Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto, it is one of the only AAA movies to date featuring a predominantly Native American cast.
It is also a captivating film that deserved to be experienced without being spoiled. Dan Trachtenberg has commented on how we sought to surprise the audience the way they were surprised the first time they saw the original film. And as this meme points out, it’s a rare treat that Native American action movie fans should experience firsthand.
It’s Violent and Gory
Predator fans will not be disappointed by the violence and gore in the latest installment, which are as good or better than any prior film in the series. Impalements, dismemberments, and beheadings are just a few examples of what’s on display in the film, and the Predator has a terrific arsenal of new and returning weapons.
This hilarious meme points out the fact that the franchise is now owned by Disney, a company associated with family entertainment. Director Dan Trachtenberg has stated that the film was in the works before Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
Sari The Dog Is One Of The Film’s Most Lovable Characters
One of Naru’s best friends and most important allies is the dog Sari which she trained herself. Sari is portrayed by Coco the dog, a Carolina dog or American dingo who was adopted specifically for the film. Sari is an important character in the film who receives plenty of screen time and has an impact on major scenes.

The lovable dog has drawn comparisons with “Dog” from the Mad Max series, a franchise whose most recent installment was influential to Prey director Dan Trachtenberg. Canine fans were gasping throughout the film as Sari survived numerous near-death encounters. No apologies necessary if you love Sari!
An Amazing Fight between Yautja and Bear
Like its predecessors, this installment is loaded with fights and kills. Thanks to Prey, fans have finally got to see a Predator take on the beasts of Earth. The Feral Predator takes on a snake, a wolf, and a bear in the film and each of those scenes are standout moments.
And the best of the bunch is definitely the brutal Predator vs. bear fight. This meme perfectly captures the feeling everyone had while watching the breathtaking fight scene. The massive bear is a real challenge for the predator and at one point seems to have even triumphed over it.
Amber Midthunder’s Naru Is A Well-Written And Strong Female Lead
Among the many aspects of the film to receive high praise, Amber Midthunder’s Naru is near the top of the list. The actress from the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe deserved all the praise she is getting for her terrific performance.
Naru is also a terrifically written character whose challenges are realistic and whose triumphs are earned. This meme celebrates this character who achieved a believability that other recent female action leads could not.
After 32 Years, Fans Have A Great New Predator Movie
Following 1990’s Predator 2, the franchise struggled to achieve the quality that had once been associated with the series. 2010’s Predators was the best film of this era but failed to generate enough interest in a follow-up. The Predator and two Alien vs. Predator films were even more disappointing.

The addition of a third hand representing Prey welcomes it into the upper echelon of Predator movies.
The Film Is Connected With Predator 2
Raphael Adolini 1715. The inscription on the flintlock pistol given to Danny Glover’s Mike Harrigan stimulated the imagination of Predator fans for years. It was given to him by the Yautja Greybeard after Harrington defeated the City Hunter Predator at the end of Predator 2. Versions of the pistol’s backstory appeared in fan films and a 1996 comic book.
But the new film definitively establishes at least part of the gun’s backstory. In this film set in 1719, Adolini gives the gun to Naru in exchange for medical attention, and Naru uses it to fight the Predator. Long-time fans were quick to identify it even before the closeup of the inscription. The sequel-tease at the end of the film indicates that the Pistol’s full story is yet to be told.
There Will Be A Sequel And It Will Have Multiple Predators
The incomplete story of Adolini’s pistol and the appearance of more spaceships during the end credits strongly tease a follow-up to Prey. And it’s looking more and more likely thanks to the film’s immense popularity.
This meme demonstrates the overwhelming force Naru will likely face in Prey 2. Predator films don’t usually get true sequels, but Prey is perfectly set up for one. With it, hopefully, Naru will continue her winning streak against the Predators.
