Moline structure fire considered ‘intentional’
A Moline structure fire considered “intentional” remains under investigation, according to a news release.
The Moline Fire Department responded to a structure fire earlier shortly before 3:30 p.m. Sunday on the 2400 block of 4th Avenue after witnesses saw smoke coming from the residence.
Firefighters found light smoke coming from the home’s second floor. Immediately, the fire department initiated an offensive attack, extending hose lines into the structure and discovering multiple fires in different areas of the vacant duplex.
The fire had extended into the walls and spread to the attic space. Ultimately, the fire was controlled in one hour, with fire crews utilizing coordinated efforts to extinguish it quickly. No neighboring properties were affected by the fire.
The Moline Police Department, Rock Island, Rock Island Arsenal, and East Moline Fire
Departments, and the Moline Second Alarmers provided additional assistance. MidAmerican Energy and Blaze Restoration assisted as well.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries on the scene and returned to duty.
The Moline Fire Department’s Fire Prevention and Investigation Bureau is conducting a
thorough investigation, the release says. The fire is classified as intentional, according to the release.
Investigators ask that anyone with any information about the incident or suspects call 309-524-2266.
No other information will be released at this time “due to the circumstances,” the release says.
