Meet stars of ‘Beyond The Sea’

As Black Mirror is an anthology series, every episode tells an entirely new story and focuses on a totally different cast but who is starring in episode 3 of season 6, Beyond The Sea?

Since Black Mirror first aired on Channel 4 in the UK back in 2011, the anthology series has been able to attract some of the biggest names in the acting world, with the likes of Rory Kinnear, Jodie Whittaker and Daniel Kaluuya all featuring in its opening season alone.

The show’s ability to add big names to its cast has only improved since its move to Netflix in 2016 and the newly arrived season 6 is no different but who is set to star in episode 3?

Black Mirror season 6 episode 3 plot preview

After an agonizing four-year wait, season 6 of Black Mirror lands on Netflix on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Episode 3, titled Beyond The Sea, takes place in an alternative 1969 and follows two astronauts on a perilous high-tech mission.

Delving into an otherworldly Space Race, the episode centers on David and Cliff who find themselves alone and isolated on a spaceship that contains a piece of technology that is vital to their objective.

Aaron Paul as Cliff Stanfield

Leading the way in Beyond The Sea’s cast as astronaut Cliff is Aaron Paul, a Black Mirror veteran having made a voice cameo in the season 4 episode, USS Callister.

Aaron Paul will be familiar to TV fans around the world thanks to his standout role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad and its follow-up film, El Camino.

Paul has over 80 film and TV roles to his name, with notable appearances coming in Big Love, Tron: Uprising, Mission Impossible III, 2014’s Need For Speed, Exodus: Gods And Kings, The Path, Truth Be Told, BoJack Horseman and Westworld.

Josh Hartnett as David Ross

Appearing alongside Aaron Paul as astronaut David is Josh Hartnett.

After beginning his career in the late 1990s, the Minnesota-born actor has starred in over 50 roles, with the likes of Die Hart, Wrath Of Man, Paradise Lost, Drunk History, Penny Dreadful, Sin City, Pearl Harbor and Cracker: Mind Over Murder all featuring among his past credits.

Kate Mara as Lana Stanfield

Back on Earth, we find Kate Mara as Cliff’s wife, Lana.

TV fans will likely know her best as journalist Zoe Barnes in the early seasons of House Of Cards while she’s also starred in Jack & Bobby, 24, Entourage, American Horror Story, Tron: Uprising, Moonbeam City, A Teacher and Class Of ’09.

In the world of film, Kate Mara has also appeared as Sue Storm in 2015’s Fantastic Four (aka Fan4stic), The Martian, My Days Of Mercy, Shooter and Iron Man 2.

Auden Thornton as Jessica Ross

Texas-born actress Auden Thornton is a veteran of over 20 roles with her most notable credits coming in Pan Am, The Good Wife, Doubt, Bull and This Is Us while she’s also appeared in the films True Story and Beauty Mark as well as the video game NBA 2K23.

Rory Culkin as Kappa

As his surname suggests, Rory Culkin is the youngest brother of Home Alone’s Macaulay and Succession’s Kieran Culkin.

Despite coming from an actor-heavy family, Rory has managed to forge ahead in his own career, earning roles in Prime Video’s Swarm, Under The Banner Of Heaven, Netflix’s Halston, The Expecting, City On A Hill, Waco and 2011’s Scream 4 among others.

Marama Corlett as Theta

Malta-born actress Marama Corlett may not be a household name for many, but she has an impressive 25 roles on her CV to date, with notable credits in The Watch, His Dark Materials, Sick Of It, Strike Back, Sick Note, Blood Drive 2012’s Sinbad series and even Maleficent and Guardians Of The Galaxy where she appeared in minor roles.

And finally, we end our cast rundown for episode 3 of Black Mirror season 6 with Marceline Hugot.

With over 110 roles to her name, it’s likely that viewers will recognize the Connecticut-born actress from somewhere, whether that’s from her roles in The Blacklist, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Chicago Fire, Ozark, Apple TV+’s Dickinson, Better Call Saul, The Leftovers and 30 Rock or the films United 93, Mr Harrigan’s Phone and The Dictator.
