Matthew Perry’s baneberries conspiracy theories erupts amid his Batman related ‘Mattman’ Instagram posts
Los Angeles, CA – The sudden and tragic passing of Friends star Matthew Perry on October 28 has left the entertainment world in shock, and as details emerge, a series of cryptic social media posts leading up to his death have ignited speculation and conspiracy theories.
Perry, 54, was found dead in his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles, California, with initial reports suggesting he had drowned in his hot tub. However, in the days leading up to his death, Perry had shared a series of enigmatic Instagram posts related to Batman, even adopting the persona of “Mattman.”
In his last social media posts, Matthew Perry liberally used Batman’s signals and in the DC Comics universe, the bat signal is a distress signal used to summon the superhero.
In the first of these posts, eleven days before his death, a camera pans around what appears to be a bedroom, with large flat screens on three walls, each showing 2022 The Beat. The main movie logo and the stars on the ceiling are there. , bat signal silhouette. “Not to worry everyone,” Perry wrote, “I got the streets tonight.”

The social media activity has prompted a flurry of speculation. Some believe the posts were an eerie cry for help, while others suggest Perry was hinting at his impending demise.
Of particular interest is a video post in which Perry’s hand is seen placing what was initially believed to be cranberries on a table. However, an astute Twitter user, @PatriotsNCtrl, revealed that these were actually baneberries, highly toxic berries native to North America. If ingested, baneberries can be fatal.
RE: #mathewperry following up on @AwakenedOutlaw post below! I found this information interesting after going through Matthew Perry’s Instagram feed.

Experts have pointed out that consuming just one baneberry can lead to severe symptoms, including burning of the mouth and throat, dizziness, stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, and diarrhea. The situation can turn critical when multiple baneberries are ingested, leading to respiratory failure and even cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, baneberries are often untraceable in autopsies.
Matthew Perry’s social media posts have also been linked to the tragic 2018 death of Dolores O’ Riordan, the lead vocalist of The Cranberries, who drowned in her bathtub due to alcohol intoxication. Given the similarities between baneberries and cranberries, some fans believe Perry was warning of a similar fate.
One Twitter user, @AwakenedOutlaw, has dissected Perry’s Batman-themed posts, suggesting that they were veiled cries for help. The user theorized that the posts, such as one featuring projectors displaying “The Batman” and another with the Batman emblem illuminated in red, were distress signals.
RE: #MatthewPerry
Shortly before his death, Perry posted a video on Instagram of a hand placing three cranberries on a table – along with the odd 'Mattman' Batman reference.
Interestingly enough, Dolores O'Riordan drowned in her bathtub.

Perry’s pickleball post raised suspicions as he played pickleball on the morning of his demise, suggesting a connection between the sport and his death. The cranberries/baneberries post, according to the theory, was a warning about the circumstances of his death, much like Dolores O’ Riordan.
Additional posts, including a pumpkin with the bat signal and an image of the moon illuminating the night sky, have been interpreted as potential clues to the timing and method of his passing.
The Los Angeles Police Department has not disclosed the cause of Perry’s death, stating only that it may have been drowning. The case is currently under investigation, with a toxicology report pending.
Despite the mounting conspiracy theories, Wendy Naugle, the editor-in-chief of People magazine, suggested that Perry’s Batman references were linked to an upcoming project and that he had been “writing a little script.” Naugle also noted that Perry had signed on to a new drama film before his untimely death. However, questions and speculation persist as fans and the public await further information regarding the tragic loss of this beloved actor.
