Written by John Shaw — 0 Views

Marvel Comics executives are reacting to Joe Quesada’s exit from Marvel Comics. Earlier today, Quesada announced his departure from the comic publisher as both artist and Chief Creative Officer. His departure comes after twenty-five celebrated years with the company. Now, his fellow Marvel Comics executives are issuing their own statements on the news.

Marvel Comics Execs Joe Quesada

What Do The Marvel Comics Executives Have to Say?

Dan Buckley, the President of Marvel Entertainment, holds no hard feelings toward Quesada’s decision. Here is what he had to say:

“Simply put, Joe is one of the most influential creatives in comics. Everything he has done, from penciling to writing to designing to editing to brainstorming, has been – and will always be – at the highest level. Over the past 30 years, I have considered myself lucky to be his friend and collaborator. And while Joe will always be a part of the Marvel family, we should all be looking forward to what he brings into the world next.”

Meanwhile, Editor-in-Chief for Marvel C.B. Cebulski calls himself lucky to have worked with Quesada for so long. In a statement, he shared,

“As an artist and a storyteller, Joe is second to none in what he’s accomplished in the comics industry. From the day I started at Marvel years ago (I became an editor largely due to his encouragement), he’s embodied the heart of Marvel and the work we do, and he’s taught me and so many others how to do the same.”

He is excited to work with Joe on new projects in the future.

Finally, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studio’s President and CCO, shared a quick statement on Joe Quesada’s decision. He shares that Quesada’s “countless contributions have helped create characters and stories that will never stop growing and evolving.” He is also grateful for Joe’s creative leadership and collaboration over the years.

So, What’s Next?

While Quesada’s decision to leave Marvel is largely due to a desire to work in other mediums, it is not clear what is next for the artist. However, as Bleedingcool points out, with Quesada and Dan DiDio out at Marvel, is Jim Lee next? Only time will tell.
