A two-car accident occurred on Interstate 81 northbound on the overpass by the Northern Lights Plaza on November 23, at approximately midnight. Lonnie Bishop, who was 49 years old and from Mexico, New York, was involved in the accident.

Bishop was struck by a third vehicle just as he was getting out of his vehicle. On the spot, the paramedics confirmed that Bishop had passed away. There was no additional injury that was reported.

The first collision between two vehicles was deemed to be a minor incident by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

Due to this collision, Interstate 81 North was closed for a number of hours, and the investigation into it is still ongoing.
