LA Galaxy reportedly interested in Mexico international Rogelio Funes Mori
The LA Galaxy are reportedly one of two MLS sides interested in signing Mexico international and CF Monterrey striker Rogelio Funes Mori.
According to Rayados90, the 32-year-old is wanted by the American duo with Funes Mori seemingly ready to leave Liga MX after becoming a superstar in Mexico, with the striker hitting an incredible 153 goals in for Monterrey.
A full international with El Tri since becoming nationalized in 2021, Funes Mori could now take his goalscoring talents to MLS, with the Galaxy one of two clubs interested in signing the former River Plate star this summer.
With the Liga MX season just starting, though, it could take some convincing to persuade Monterrey to part with Funes Mori, who is already on the board for the campaign after just three games played.
However, with Funes Mori’s contract expiring in 2024, Monterrey might see an opportunity to cash in on the attacker this summer, even if the forward is something of a club legend at this stage.
As a result, the Galaxy could be in a strong position to make a move for Funes Mori, who could be the ideal striker to lead the line with rumors circulating that Javier Hernandez could be leaving California at the end of this season.
Funes Mori could be a dream short-term signing for the LA Galaxy
Funes Mori has been nothing short of a superstar in Mexico since moving to North America in 2015. And the Galaxy could be the dream next step for the striker.
As we know, goals and a reliable man upfront have been the main issues for Greg Vanney’s side this season. And Funes Mori would solve this problem and then some.
Of course, at 32-years-old, Funes Mori won’t be around to lead the Galaxy forever. But for two or three seasons, the Mexican international is a dream solution for the MLS giants.
