Swedish mixed martial artist Khamzat Chimaev, who was born in Russia, is now a member of the UFC’s welterweight division. He goes by the name Broz.

The most anticipated battle between him and Nate Diaz will finally take place on September 11. The main event of UFC 279 will be the welterweight match.

He hasn’t shared a single photo of them together or on their wedding day, although he does often upload pictures of his business life and other things.

Nate Diaz cited the Swedish player’s marriage as a barrier to a fight, while Chimaev was enjoying the lifetime ceremony and spending quality time with his family.

According to Mirror, Diaz attempted to schedule a bout with Khamzat in May, but it was again unsuccessful because of his wedding ceremony. But after a very long wait, the match will eventually take place on September 11.

On May 1, 1994, in the Chechen Republic of Russia, Khamzat was born. Later in 2013, he moved to Sweden with his mother and older brother, who were also living there.

While not revealing his father, the mixed martial artist frequently posts pictures of his mother on social media. Chimaev wrestled at numerous clubs after moving to Sweden, notably BK Athén.
One of the top freestyle grapplers in the nation, Chimaev triumphed at the Swedish Freestyle National Championships at 86 kg in 2016 and 2017, and at 92 kilograms in 2018. Chimaev has had a string of impressive matches in the competition, going 12-0 overall with three pins, seven technical falls, and a combined score of 105 points while only giving up two points in each of his three matchups. On November 19, 2021, at Bulldog Fight Night 9 in Sweden, Chimaev wrestled against fellow UFC contender Jack Hermansson in freestyle wrestling. Chimaev won on points.

When Chimaev was 23 years old, he first began training in mixed martial arts. He works out at the Allstar Training Center in Stockholm along with others like Reza Madadi, Ilir Latifi, and three-time UFC Light Heavyweight Championship challenger Alexander Gustafsson. During a press conference in June 2019, Gustafsson, one of his primary training partners, remarked to a Swedish reporter that Chimaev was among the best fighters he had ever trained with.

Initial Career of Khamzat Chimaev

Chimaev said in an interview with ESPN that he was motivated to begin training in mixed martial arts after taking a 15-minute break from work to watch the Aldo vs. McGregor main event. Chimaev declared: “I was seeing McGregor’s battle. He was fighting Aldo as I watched. I was working while sitting in the evening. I watched his battle while taking a 15-minute break. I often ask myself why I can’t do it now if the guys can make millions of dollars and such. I’m a warrior, a fighter, and I have something unique inside of me. To get this out there and show the public, I had to find a means.”

Chimaev competed in three amateur MMA matches between September 2017 and April 2018. He won the first one by submission in the second round against future IMMAF World Champion Khaled Laallam. His final two amateur fights were victories by technical knockout and submission, giving him a perfect 3-0 record.

On May 26, 2018, Chimaev competed in his first professional match at International Ring Fight Arena 14 against Gard Olve Sagen.

In the second round, he obtained a technical knockout victory.

At Fight Club Rush 3, Chimaev’s subsequent matchup was against Ole Magnor on August 18, 2018. Late in the first round, he used a rear naked choke to submit the opponent.

Battlefield Federation

Chimaev signed with Middle Eastern organization Brave Combat Federation after competing in his first two professional fights in Sweden.

On November 16, 2018, at Brave CF 18, he was supposed to make his promotional debut against Benjamin Bennett. However, Bennett pulled out of the fight, and Marko Kisi, an unbeaten prospect, took his place. Chimaev knocked out his opponent with a left hand in the opening round to win the fight via technical knockout.

On December 22, 2018, at Brave CF 20, Chimaev took on Sidney Wheeler in place of an injured Leon Aliu, which required a speedy turnaround.

In the opening round’s first 35 seconds, he obtained a technical knockout victory.

The following day, April 19, 2019, at Brave CF 23, he faced Ikram Aliskerov.

Chimaev was making his welterweight debut in this match. He delivered an uppercut in the opening round, ending the fight via knockout.  He was given the Brave’s Knockout of the Night award for his performance.

On October 4, 2019, at Brave CF 27, he fought Mzwandile Hlongwa in his fourth promotional match.

In the second round, Chimaev submitted his opponent to win the bout.

On April 18, 2020, at Brave CF 37, Chimaev was scheduled to face Jarrah Al-Selawe for the BCF Welterweight Championship. This would be the promotion’s first event in Stockholm, Sweden, where Chimaev is from.

The COVID-19 epidemic would cause the event to be postponed, and when Chimaev decided to join the UFC in its place, the fight was completely scrapped.

Against September 6, 2020, it was announced that Chimaev would have another rapid turnaround as he was scheduled to take on Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Fight Night 178 on September 19, 2020.

Within 17 seconds of the first round beginning, he knocked out Meerschaert to win the match. He now has three consecutive wins for Performance of the Night thanks to this triumph. [55] He set a new record for the quickest three-fight winning streak in UFC history thanks to this as well (66 days).

On December 19, 2020, Chimaev and Leon Edwards were supposed to square off in the main event of UFC Fight Night 183.

On November 29, it was revealed that Chimaev had tested positive for COVID-19, putting the fight in doubt. The match was postponed because Edwards also tested positive for COVID-19 on December 1st.
