Josh Stein’s birth name is Joshua Stein, born September 13, 1966, aged 56 years. He is an American citizen and a religious Jew of white ethnicity. He gained a reputation as an American political leader and lawyer. Josh is also known as the first Jew to win a statewide election in North Carolina. He won the Attorney General by defeating Buck Newton. Before entering politics, he worked in a financial institution in Durham and also for the United States Senate.

Joshua was born in the capital of the United States, Washington DC but half of his childhood was spent in Charlotte, North Carolina when his family moved there. The Stein family later moved to Chapel Hills, North Carolina, and settled there, and Joshua spent the rest of his life there. Adam Stein is the name of Josh’s father, the founder of North Carolina’s first Integrated Law Firm.

Josh attended high school at Chapel Hill High School and he used to play football on the school’s team. He then joined Dartmouth College of Hanover, New Hampshire, and earned a bachelor’s degree, after which he began teaching Economics and English at a school in Zimbabwe. After a while, he decided to get more degrees and joined Harvard Law School for a Master of Public Administration and a Doctor of Laws degree.

After completing his studies, he joined the Self-Help Credit Union in Durham and worked there for several months. In the late 1990s he joined State Representative Mr. Dan Blue as an intern and after a couple of occasions he was appointed Assistant Attorney General of the Consumer Protection Agency by Roy Cooper, then the Attorney General of North Carolina. Josh served as a member of the North Carolina Senate from 2009 to 2016. From 2012 to 2016, he was an Advisor to Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP.

In 2017, he was elected the 50th Attorney General of North Carolina and set the record as the city’s first Jewish Attorney General in 2020.
