Joseph Hyde has been unofficially identified as the person fatally struck by NJ Transit train in North Jersey on Thursday afternoon.

Hyde was an eleventh grader in Paramus Catholic High School.

A Port Jervis Line train that was initially supposed to arrive in Hoboken at 5:13 p.m. struck an individual, who was only identified as a passenger, close to the Broadway Station in Fair Lawn at 4:39 p.m., according to a NJ Transit representative.

According to authorities, there were about 100 people on the train at the time, and none of them were hurt in the event.

When the deadly strike occurred, rail service between Ridgewood and Plauderville was suspended in both directions while the NJ Transit Police conducted an investigation.
