Tee and Jamie Morant, Ja Morant’s parents, both competed at the university level in their sports before Ja was born. Both of Ja Morant’s parents were athletes; his mother, Jamie Morant, played softball, while his father, Tee Morant, played semi-professional basketball.

While Ja and his father exercised in their backyard, Ja’s father not only provided him with tractor tires to practice jumping with a soft landing, but he also demonstrated to Ja how to perform step-back jump shots.
