Iuri Lapicus Cause of Death: How Did He Die?

Iuri Lapicus died of injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash last week in Italy. It was reported that the MMA fighter Iuri Lapicus, who recently fought ex-UFC star Eddie Alvarez hit his motorbike Friday into a vehicle, which was driven by a 69-year-old woman in northwest Milan, and was thrown many feet from the crash site.

Lapicus was taken by helicopter to a hospital in the city, where he prevailed in a coma until he, unfortunately, yield to his injuries on Monday.

Lapicus started his MMA career with 14 straight wins, 4 of which were by knockouts. He in the end lost to Christian Lee at ONE Championship.

Iuri Lapicus Died In Following Motorcycle Accident

ONE Championship fighter Iuri Lapicus reportedly died after a brutal car accident in Italy. The MMA fighter was only 27 years old at the time of his death. 

According to their reports, he seemingly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into an old lady’s car. There are no reports regarding the condition of the woman he collided with that have been released yet.

Doctors tried in their attempts to revive him and Iuri Lapicus tragically passed away.

Iuri was 27, had 14-2-1 NC record, and competed under the ONE banner, where he faced legends in the likes of @Ealvarezfight and @ChristianLeeMMA.

Iuri Lapicus Career

Iuri Lapicus was born in Moldova and resides in Italy, He began his MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) career with 14 straight wins. After joining ONE Championship in 2019, Iuri marked back-to-back submission victories before earning a title against 170-pound champion Christian Lee.

After a detain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he challenged for the title in late 2020 but bore the first loss of his career when Christian stopped him via 1st-round TKO.

Iuri Lapicus later lost to Eddie Alvarez, former UFC lightweight champion, but Eddie was disqualified for punches to the back of the head and this fight was ruled a no-contest.

He made his last appearance for ONE this last August, he was knocked out in the 1st round by Zebaztian Kadestam.
