Mitchell Miller Took 6 Years to Apologize to Isaiah Meyer Crothers’s Family

Joni Meyer Crothers was furious when the Coyotes drafted Miller. No NHL teams contacted her in their background checks into Miller’s character, she said.

The letter she considered writing to all teams before the draft-she never sent it, she said, believing that Miller wouldn’t be drafted-was distilled into a scathing note sent directly to the Coyotes in the days after the draft. (They have not responded, she said.)

As much as we pray Mitchell will eventually see the damage he did to our son, we have seen no remorse. The other gentleman had a sincere apology to our son and our son forgave him. The magistrate said it best: “Mitchell, I don’t think you are remorseful for what you did more than you are upset for the negative attention you are getting.

Again, the bully incident that continued over years has damaged our son mentally significantly and your organization is more concerned about Mitchell and your hockey ccess. In my opinion, that is being part of the problem. There is a victim out there success. that was and still at the hands of your 111th pick.

Joni Meyer told NBC10 Boston on 4 November 2022,

“Miller told our son that his Black mom and dad didn’t love him, that’s why he had white parents,” Joni Meyer-Crothers said. “On a daily basis, was called the N-word. [Miller] would ask Isaiah to sit with him on the bus, and as soon as Isaiah would sit with him, him and his friends would just punch Isaiah in the head nonstop, and all he wanted was friends. So he was an easy target for Mitchell.”

Miller and another teenager were accused because of making Isaiah eat a candy push pop after wiping it in a bathroom urinal. Surveillance video showed them kicking and punching him. Joni told that Mitchell Miller apologized to Isaiah via Snapchat.

Miller said,

“When I was in eighth grade, I made an extremely poor decision and acted very immaturely,” he said. “I bullied one of my classmates. I deeply regret the incident and have apologized to the individual. Since the incident, I have come to better understand the far-reaching consequences of my actions that I failed to recognize and understand nearly seven years ago. I strive to be a better person and positively contribute to society.”
