Are your Instagram DMs been glitching for a day or two? You aren’t the only one as users across the globe are complaining about the app not sending their messages, along with a couple more issues.

At the time of writing, #instagramdown is trending on Twitter as complaints about the photo-sharing app are only increasing.

As Instagram hasn’t addressed the complaints or provided any updates on its much-used feature, it could also be an identified glitch.

Meanwhile, people who are struggling to communicate on the app via DMs, are urging the service providers to come up with a fix.

Instagram’s not sending or receiving messages

As seen on Down Detector, the issue with Instagram DMs began on July 5th around 8 pm.

The issue continues to interrupt the service, as users have noted that they aren’t able to send or receive messages.

It has even been pointed out that messages are disappearing suddenly on being sent, while the end-user never received them.

As if this wasn’t inconvenient enough, some users are notified about “unread messages” for the DMs they already checked.

Users are annoyed by the glitch

Instagram users are taking Twitter with hopes of finding a solution to the problem but to no avail.

“hey @instagram why won’t my messages send like none are sending and a bunch are just gone is this because of my previous tweet cmon man not cool of you please revert or i will do nothing and cry :(,” one Tweeted.

Another said, “Am I only the one who is facing issues with Instagram DM Message are showing sending and I’m not able to see new messages It’s really very frustrating”

“@Instagram messages are not sending nor receiving Since 3hours ago and bug report is also not sending ..please help me with this.. Please,” urged another user.

Possible reasons why the DMs could be down

Instagram and similar social media platforms are constantly updated. While it is yet to be confirmed by Instagram what the issue pertaining to its messages is, it could be a result of a changed or updated algorithm.

If the app is undergoing any changes in the backend, the chances of it glitching are high.

Until the app provides a clarification, you can give the below possible methods a shot to try to rectify the issue.

• Restart your app and try re-sending the messages that are stuck.
• Check if you have updated Instagram on your phone to its latest version.
• Messages may also not get delivered or received if your internet connectivity is interrupted. Switch to mobile data to send the messages.
• Lack of space on the app is also noted to cause glitches in the features. So make sure you have cleared the cache.
