A BUDDING fashionista was in for a nasty surprise when she tried on a dress she had hoped to wear for Christmas.

Her hopes were dashed when she realized that the green sequinned dress made her look like Shrek, instead of like a princess.

Abi Morton (@abimortonnn) acquired the outfit in question after being inspired by a viral video.

In the clip with 3.5 million views, influencer Collins Tuohy Smith wore the grass-green, long-sleeved sequinned dress while decorating a Christmas tree.

Abi hoped to recreate the magic for her festive family snaps, but she was sorely disappointed.

Her video was entitled: "Point of view: me trying on said green dress for the first time that I had to have for family Christmas photos."

The clip showed Abi looking at herself in the mirror for the first time while wearing the dress.

She had a horrified expression and overlaid text read that she was "shooketh."

"I look like Shrek," Abi said as she sighed.

Her caption read: "The outfit did not look the same in person as it did in my head."
