Hunt: Showdown Alpha Signups Are Open

Written by Chloe Ramirez — 0 Views

Hunt: Showdown is one of our most anticipated titles coming soon to PC. This horror-shooter-battle royal-PvPvE…well, it’s a lot of different genres mashed together. Either way, it looks beautiful and a hell of a lot of fun. If you are like me, you cannot wait to get your hands on a copy and start shooting your friends all through the monster-infested swamp. Lucky for us, developer Crytek has announced that they will be running a multi-phase closed alpha through this winter. It will start with a very limited number of players, and more will be invited after each phase.

Those selected will get to practice their hands at Hunt: Showdown‘s unique blend of monster hunting and team vs. team shooter a bit early. Hopefully, those selected to the alpha will also be able to voice concerns and helps steer the development of the game.

Crytek has not listed any dates for the beginning or end of the closed alpha period; they’ve only used the cryptic phrase “this winter.” Interested players can sign up on the Hunt: Showdown website.

Hunt: Showdown pits multiple two-player teams on a monster hunt against both the AI and several other teams. Teams must hunt down a tough boss creature, kill it, banish it back to Hell, and escape the map with the bounty, all while avoiding the other teams – or hunting them instead. It looks like a unique concept and a tense combination of action, stealth, and suspense. check out the Steam trailer here, or scroll below to watch the developers play a few games from an Extra Life fundraising stream held in early November. The first game begins at the 14-minute mark.

Hunt: Showdown will release in the near future on PC, although no definitive release date has been announced. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
