Huge Sky Atlantic series AXED - but there is a new spin-off in the works

A HUGE Sky Atlantic TV show is facing the axe after just three series.

US Network Showtime has cancelled The L Word: Generation Q, however a new spin-off is seemingly in the works.

The show is a sequel to the groundbreaking series, The L Word, which originally premiered in 2004.

It lasted until 2009, with the popular spin-off then launched ten years later in 2019.

The original series centered around a group of lesbian and bisexual women living in West Hollywood.

Some of the original cast reunited to make the new series which was set in Silver Lake area of Los Angeles.

It followed a diverse set of characters as they navigated the ups and downs of LGBTQ life in the Californian city.

Stars such as Jennifer Beals reprised the role as Bette Porter-Kennard whilst Kate Moennig returned as Shane McCutcheon.

However, despite the setback a new reboot of the original series is in the works.

It will reportedly be set in New York instead of the California and it currently has the working title L Word: New York.

The franchise also spun a reality series named The Real L Word which debuted in 2010, as well as a documentary titled L Word Mississippi: Hate the Sin.

Other popular US series from the same studio including American Gigolo, Three Women, and Let the Right One In were also cancelled.
