It’s been ten years since the launch of Instagram and over the course of a decade, the site has become a favourite photo-sharing social media app for many users around the world.

Android: How to change the Instagram icon

  • Update your Instagram to the latest version
  • Open Instagram and click on your profile in the lower right corner
  • Tap on the upper right corner and go to settings
  • Scroll up until you see a cake with the words ‘Celebrate with us’ which will introduce a number of new app icons
  • If you scroll up and it doesn’t work, restart your phone and try again
  • Choose your favourite Instagram icon and add it to your Home Screen

The new icon is different for Android phones

When you pick up your new Instagram icon, you will realise that it’s slightly different for Android devices.

Instead of replacing your current icon, you will create a shortcut to Instagram with your new logo.

Therefore, your icon will look different to the ones on iOS phones as you will have your normal Instagram icon displayed on the one you chose.

How many icons can you choose from?

There are 13 icons that you can choose for your new Instagram look, including the current one.

Instagram has brought back the Classic and Classic 2 from 2010 and 2011, while you also have the original one when the app was launched in 2010.

Some of the rest are Twilight, Sunrise, Pride, Gold, Aurora and others.
