Holly Wells Murder

Holly and her friend Jessica Chapman were attending a barbecue at Jessica’s family home in Soham, Cambridgeshire on 4 August 2022. Holly and Jessica left the house to take sweets from a vending machine at the local sports center.

 When they were returning home then a resident and school caretaker named Ian Huntley enticed both girls into his home. He and his girlfriend named Maxine Carr killed both girls via asphyxiation on 4 August 2002 and disposed of their bodies in an irrigation ditch close to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. 

Maxine Carr was both girls’ teaching assistants. Police found their bodies two weeks later on 17 August 2002. Walkers found remains next to a dirt track in Thetford Forest which is 40 miles away from Soham. Ian and Maxine burned and dumped both girls’ bodies beside one another.

Ian Huntley used to work at the local secondary school, Soham Village College as a caretaker at the time of both girls’ disappearance. He was arrested with rape and underage sex with girls charges.

 He was convicted of those girls’ murder in December 2003 then he was sentenced to 2 life sentences. He is serving his sentence at high-security HMP Frankland in Durham. He was placed in solitary confinement in November 2019 after he attacked a prison officer.
