McDonald’s USA has teamed up with publisher Harper Collins again and books will be given away as Happy Meal toys for a limited time.

The fast-food chain has swapped plastic toys for books numerous times in the past and it’s always a huge success with both kids and parents.

Harper Collins is a New York-based company that publishes some of the world’s most popular children’s books and has offices across the world.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new McDonald’s Happy Meal toys…

Harper Collins Happy Meal toys return to McDonald’s

Every time you order a Happy Meal at McDonald’s you’ll get an adorable little Harper Collins book to read and there are five to collect.

The five titles are:

• If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
• Pete the Cat and his Magic Sunglasses
• Paddington
• If You Take a Mouse to School
• Pete the Cat’s got Class

Each one contains the full story by a series of renowned authors, but the original books have been shrunk down to a nifty Happy Meal and handbag-friendly size.

The collaboration followd the Disney Mickey & Friends toys which arrived in January. Before that, Happy Meals contained Super Mario Bros figures ahead of the new movie.

How long is the Harper Collins collaboration?

The books will come in Happy Meals for three weeks from Tuesday, February 21 2023 to Monday, March 13 2023.

This isn’t the first time the two companies have teamed up. In 2018, McDonald’s worked with the British publisher and offered some of the same books.

The titles on offer were: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Big Nate: In a Class by Himself, Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses and Flat Stanley Goes Camping.

“This is the latest step in our ongoing efforts to enrich the lives of families,” Julie Wenger, senior director of U.S. marketing at McDonald’s said at the time.

She added that it was also part of a broader book strategy to “combine the fun of the Happy Meal and support of our partners to inspire more family reading time”.

“We’re proud to invite families to spread the spirit of learning and lovin’ that’s synonymous with our brand through these fun, classic Happy Meal Books.”

This comes just a week after Cardi B and Offset launched their own McDonald’s meal for Valentine’s Day. Plus, the Shamrock Shake is currently available until St Patrick’s Day too.
