Glasses could give former firefighter second chance at sight
A man who spent years taking care of his community as a firefighter and a paramedic is now asking for help.
David Hereid has a rare eye condition that made him go blind almost overnight.
He thought he’d never be able to see again, until he heard about eSight. They make glasses that would give him almost perfect vision. But, they cost $10,000.
So his family is working together to host benefit concerts to raise the funds.
Hereid says trying on the eSight glasses for the first time was an emotional experience.
“I was able to see my wife for the first time,” Hereid said. “It was an ‘oh my gosh’ reaction. But it’s the cost. The glasses cost $10,000 and being on disability I knew I couldn’t afford that.”
Hereid hosted a benefit concert at Riverfront Park in Clinton.
