The FDNY is mourning the loss of EMT Frederick Whiteside, a 22-year veteran of the Department.
Whiteside suffered a cardiac arrest while on duty in New York City.
EMT Frederick Whiteside was a 22-year Department veteran, and the FDNY is in deep sorrow over his passing. While working at a New York City 911 Dispatch Center in the Bronx today, Whiteside experienced a heart arrest.
We are deeply saddened by EMT Whiteside’s passing. Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said, “He was a dedicated public servant and front-line worker with more than two decades of service to the FDNY.” “We join his family and friends in mourning his loss and are saddened by his unexpected passing.”
On April 19, 2002, EMT Whiteside was assigned to the FDNY. Working in EMS Divisions 2 and 3, he spent his whole career in Brooklyn and the Bronx. He was currently assigned to EMS Dispatch, where he had been employed since 2019.
