Former President Donald Trump back on ballot in Illinois, other states
A ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States keeps former President Donald Trump on the ballot in Colorado and other states.
The unanimous decision came a day before voters in 15 states head to the polls for Super Tuesday. The Supreme Court said states can’t use the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump from running again. The ruling provides clarity for the ballot; a judge in Cook County, Ill., ruled last week to remove Trump from the ballot, but the judge put it on hold until the Supreme Court decided. The ruling ensures Trump will be on the Illinois Primary ballot. Trump celebrated the decision on social media, and Illinois’ Republican Party chair called it a “victory for voters.”
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said he agrees with the Supreme Court decision, adding that Trump on the ballot will help Democrats. Iowa governor Kim Reynolds also expressed her support for the Supreme Court’s decision.
