Fire temporarily closed 38th Street in Rock Island

Firefighters quickly contained a fire on a busy Rock Island street this morning.
The Rock Island Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the 1500 block of 38th Street on Thursday, February 22 at about 10:15 a.m. The Rock Island Arsenal and Moline Fire Departments also responded to provide assistance.
Crews had the fire under control in about 15 minutes. No residents or firefighters were injured. Crews were forced to close 38th Street from 15th to 16th Avenue during the fire, but area businesses stayed open.
Two adults and three children were displaced because of damage to the building. The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
