After graduating from high school, Erin attended Illinois State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Theater.

Later, she also developed an interest in the weather & decided to go back to school and study the weather. Enrolling herself at Mississippi State University, she studied Broadcast Meteorology and graduated with a degree in the same.

Christiansen’s journalism career began while she was still in college when she got a chance to intern at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois. In the year 1997, she started working at KOLD-TV as an Account Executive. A few years later, in July 2000, she was promoted to co-anchor for News 13 This Morning and as a meteorologist for News 13 at Noon, this marked her first on-camera entrance.

Erin then joined the KOLD 13 team where she was the morning meteorologist until May 2006. Erin joined the KGUN 9 team in 2006 where she was chief meteorologist until August 2018 when she left to become chief meteorologist at WPEC CBS 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
