Following a horrific collision on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills early on Saturday afternoon, one individual is dead.
The Ford Mustang involved in the collision, which occurred just after 3 p.m., broke into several parts on the westbound side of the freeway, south of the Chesebro Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The car crashed into another car, veered off the road, and struck a pole, splitting it in half. Witnesses informed police that after seeing the flames, good Samaritans tried to put out the fire by throwing dirt on them.
At the scene, the driver, identified as Erick Quezada Osuna, was declared deceased. If street racing contributed to the collision, investigators are trying to find out.
About 3:30 p.m., a SigAlert was sent out while the investigation was ongoing. Almost four hours later, all lanes were once again open.
