Who Was Ed Gein?

In Ed Gein’s family, he had a father, his mother, and his sibling as a brother. Ed Gein’s father’s name is George Philip and his mother’s name is Augusta Wilhelmine Gein. Gein’s brother’s name is Henry George Gein.

Ed Gein’s Mother

Ed Gein’s mother’s name was Augusta Wilhelmine Gein, he was obsessively loyal and faithful to his mother and stayed with her until her death. Augusta Wilhelmine Gein was born in 1878 and died in 1945.

Augusta Wilhelmine Gein was ardently religious and nominally Lutheran. She sermonizes to her sons about the inborn badness of the world, the wickedness of drinking, and her faith that all women (aside from herself) were of course dissolute and instruments of the devil.

Augusta reticent time every afternoon to read to them from the Bible. Augusta hated her husband George Philip, who was an alcoholic and unable to keep a job.

Ed Gein’s Father

Ed Gein’s father’s name was George Philip. George Philip was born in 1873, and he died in 1940 at age 66. He was an alcoholic, and his mother was rhetorically rude toward him. In 1940, George died of heart failure caused by alcoholism. Ed had worked numerous times as a tanner, carpenter, and insurance salesman.

During this time in La Crosse, George Philip possess a local grocery shop, but he soon sold the business and left the city with his family.

Ed Gein’s brother’s name was Henry George Gein. Henry was born in 1901 and died in 1944. 

Ed Gein Death

Ed Gein died on 26 July 1984 at the Mendota Mental Health Institute due to respiratory failure secondary to lung cancer at the age of 77. Gein is buried among his family members including his parents and brother in the cemetery.
