Dog with unusual condition needs surgery but the price tag is too expensive owner is asking for help
Jennifer Felske is the mother of a boston terrier-french bulldog mix named Hermi. The canine is currently suffering from a condition where it carries both male and female anatomies, but the surgery to correct that is pricy.
Felske and her family suffered a major loss this past November with the death of her three-month old daughter. She has been coping with that loss by nurturing several animals, like Hermi. She claims the surgery would prevent future infections and the possible death of her four-legged family member. She’s asking for help.
“He’s ah one of a kind,” says Felske.
Hermi isn’t built like most dogs, his reproduction organs are unusual. “He’s a boy they just don’t know if he may possibly have girl parts inside,” says Felske. “They won’t know that until they do surgery.”
What’s dragging the four legged member to the surgery bed isn’t only the curiousity of his anatomy but the pain the pup goes through. Vets saying he’d have to go under a penile amputation.
“So they’ll do that at that time and sew up that slit.”
The surgery would prevent infections and possibly death for the canine. Felske claims the procedure costs hundreds to thousands of dollars. She has created a gofund me page to help the pup that once helped her.
“He means everything to us. All of our animals do. When you go through hard times they’re the best thing to have.”
About four months ago, Felske lost her three month old daughter, Adalin Bealer, because of a genetic disorder known as Edward Syndrome.
“She had some major holes in her heart which caused congestive heart failure and we lost her on November 3rd.”
A loss too hard to bare, both parents unable to return to work. Just last month, Felske’s husband became employed but now its a game of catch-up.
“You know catching up on bills and now this comes up and we’re still not come up and he just started working.” Because of these strains, nurturing two dogs and three cats of her own along with five other foster animals, helps felske get by day to day.
“These guys they’re just wonderful and give you the comfort that you need.”
And Felske says she’ll do what she can to keep hermi around as long as possible. To donate to Hermi’s fund towards his surgery, visit his GoFundMe page here.
