Following the success of last year’s festive episode, Death In Paradise is returning to our screens with another Christmas Special to brighten up our dark and dreary December with some much-needed Caribbean sunshine.

The new 90-minute episode will see DI Neville Parker and the team tasked with solving another murder but this time, there’s a spooky and supernatural twist to the tale.

As ever in Death In Paradise, the new festive episode sees the show’s regular cast joined by a host of new and familiar faces but who exactly is in the cast of the 2022 Christmas Special?

The 2022 Death In Paradise Christmas Special is scheduled to land on BBC One at 9pm on Boxing Day.

After last year’s special helped to kick-off the murder mystery’s 10-year anniversary, this year’s episode looks to experiment as it dips its toes into the waters of the supernatural.

The murder of a true crime podcaster interrupts Christmas celebrations on Saint Marie and unearths a more than 40-year-old case that went unsolved under the Commissioner’s watch.

Things take a spooky turn when a ghostly noise can be heard on footage captured prior to the murder and poor Marlon is forced to spend the night at a potentially haunted house.

Meanwhile, away from work, a chance encounter at the airport suggests that love might finally be in the air for Neville.

Chelsea Edge as Sophie Chambers

First up in our cast rundown is Chelsea Edge who takes on the role of Neville’s prospective love interest, Sophie Chambers, who is set to reappear throughout season 12 as well as the Christmas Special.

The actress made her on-screen debut in 2013 and has gone on to appear in more than 20 roles with notable appearances coming in I Hate Suzie, Apple TV+’s Suspicion, The Missing, Vera, Queens Of Mystery and most recently, she appeared in a minor role in the superb Star Wars series, Andor.

Joseph Mydell as Rodell Weekes

Playing the character Rodell Weekes in the Christmas Special is Joseph Mydell.

The America-born actor has been appearing on film and TV screens since the 1980s and has appeared in the likes of Homeland, The Missing, Midsomer Murders, Prime Video’s Alex Rider, Bergerac and even the Miss Marple episode, A Caribbean Mystery, which seems fitting for Death In Paradise.

Siobhan McSweeney as Jennifer Langan

Taking on the role of the Christmas Special’s unfortunate murder victim, true crime podcaster Jennifer, is Siobhan McSweeney.

Fans will know the Irish actress best from her role as Sister Michael in Derry Girls while she’s also appeared in Murdoch Mysteries, ITV series Holding, Porters, Collateral, and the 2016 Disney film, Alice Through The Looking Glass.

Hakeem Kae-Kazim as Marvin Peters

With more than 120 roles to his name, Hakeem Kae-Kazim will be a familiar face to many as he takes on the role of Marvin in the Christmas Special.

With so many credits under his belt, it’s difficult to narrow down his most notable roles but fans will likely have seen Hakeem star in the likes of Hotel Rwanda, Lost, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End, 24, Black Sails, the 2016 adaptation of Roots, Dynasty, Silent Witness, Godzilla Vs Kong, Dangerous Liaisons, the video game Halo: Reach and even Grange Hill where he appeared in one of his first roles.

Jo Martin as Rakesha Lorde

Jo Martin is another familiar face popping up in Death Paradise as she takes on the role of Rakesha Lorde.

The London-born actress is arguably best-known for her 12-year stint on Holby City while she’s also appeared in Doctor Who, Back To Life, Casualty, Fleabag, Silent Witness, Top Boy and Batman Begins.

Les Dennis as Danny Sheridan

Liverpool-born star Les Dennis has been a regular on our screens since the 1970s and takes on the mischievous role of Danny Sheridan in Death In Paradise.

Fans will likely know the actor best for his stint on Coronation Street while he’s also appeared in Life’s Too Short, Midsomer Murders, Holby City, Extras, Brookside, Madhouse and, of course, The Les Dennis Laughter Show.

Jason Yeboa as Young Selwyn

And finally, we end with Jason Yeboa who takes on the role of a young Selwyn Patterson in flashbacks during the festive episode.

The actor has just one other credit to his name according to IMDb, which came in the smash hit Indian film, RRR.

The 2022 Death In Paradise Christmas Special airs on BBC One and iPlayer at 9pm on Boxing Day.
