Local kids hit the slopes at Ski Snowstar Monday for some friendly competition.

It was the Great Cardboard Sled Race.

Participants were challenged to make a sled out of cardboard, duct tape, paint, markers, and crayons.

The event was sponsored by the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley.

“Some of them made it as a group and they’re sharing, so they wanted to pull their resources. So just an opportunity to test their skills, test their creativity and meet a lot of new kids,” said Jenny Garlach.

It cost $10 to participate. The funds from the event will benefit the Boys and Girls Club.
