Car Accident Wappingers Falls, NY: Pedestrian in critical condition following collision on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls.

Following a tragic incident on Friday night, a pedestrian was left in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle at around 10:20 p.m. The incident occurred on Route 9.

The accident took place at the intersection of Route 9 and New Hackensack Road in Wappingers Falls.

In response to the accident, both the Wappingers Falls Police and State Police swiftly arrived on the scene. Additionally, the Wappingers Falls firefighters and EMS personnel were also present to provide assistance.

According to a source at the scene, the victim received immediate CPR and was subsequently taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital with critical injuries.

The individual operating the vehicle, who allegedly collided with the pedestrian, has been transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Centre for assessment.

The closure of all northbound lanes of Route 9 at the West Main Street intersection persisted well into the early hours of Saturday, resulting in traffic being redirected through the strip mall parking lot onto New Hackensack Road.

During the examination and evidence collection at the scene, accident reconstruction specialists closed at least one lane of southbound Route 9 traffic.

Investigation is ongoing.
