Boy, 17, killed and two female passengers, 14, injured in Walsall crash as cops hunt driver

COPS are today hunting a driver who fled the scene after a horror crash left a teenage boy dead and two 14-year-old girls injured.

The teenager is believed to have been a passenger in the Volkswagen Golf when it crashed into parked cars in Walsall, West Mids, just after midnight.

The boy, from Malvern in Worcestershire, was found collapsed nearby with a serious head injury and was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Two female passengers were also injured in the collision – one suffered a broken arm and the other minor injuries - and cops desperately trying to locate the driver.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, is appealing for anyone who saw the collision to get in touch.

He added: “We’re working to understand what happened in the build-up to the collision so if anyone saw the VW Golf in Weston Street or the surrounding area just after midnight then please call or email.

“You could have really important information to assist our enquiries.

“This is a tragic incident in which a teenager has lost his life and our thoughts are with his family at this tragic time.

“We are doing all we can to trace the driver. It’s only a matter of time before we catch up with him so I would urge that person to do the right thing and come and speak to us so they can explain what happened.”
