Blue Lock Chapter 213: Recap

Isagi Yoichi has finally managed to score his very first goal in the Neo Egoist League, putting his team in the lead against the seemingly invincible defense of Italy Ubers. The goal of Ubers, Canali gets shocked to see such a sudden change in the Play style of Yoichi. An unknown attack pattern using his left foot to make a direct shot into the goal is something the Ubers didn’t cover even in their data, so this was a huge surprise for them.

Canali asks Yoichi what he did do in such a short amount of time to improve so much, and so we get a flashback from 5 days ago. Yoichi visits Kunigami in the gym to ask for his help in training. Yoichi expresses his concern over his current playing style and how he’s only good at right-foot shoots, so he needs Kunigami to teach him how to become a two-footed shooter. 

Kunigami gets disgusted by this sudden request and immediately declines Yoichi’s request. Yoichi still insists on at least training alongside him. Still, Kunigami explains that it will do more harm than good to him as he was forced to become a two-footed player. Still, if Yoichi was to try and train like him, then it’s possible his body balance would be disturbed, and his performance would deteriorate. 

Kunigami walks away, saying that a real footballer never looks for shortcuts to get better. Yoichi understands his concern and requests only to watch Kunigami’s training session when Chigiri enters the scene. Kunigami asks him to get lost, but Chigiri challenges him instead and claims that he has changed so that he will keep an eye on him. 

Bachira joins in the conversation, thinking it’s some reunion. Bachira says he just wanted to hang out with Yoichi and was impressed by seeing the Bastard vs. Manshine match, saying they all went all out on “ego juice.” Bachira and his wacky explanations of how Yoichi and Chigiri played. He then turns towards Kunigami and runs to ask him for a training session. 

Kunigami still refuses to join in any reunion, but Bachira argues that it’s not a reunion but a face-off as he wants to test his dribbling skills against a strong opponent. He challenges Kunigami to a match like in old times, and Chigiri joins in on the fun. Chigiri also asks Yoichi to join in to make it a 2v2 match as he wants to work on his speed to improve it further. 

Yoichi catches on to these training methods of Chigiri and Bachira as he thinks of how both of them got better by making minor changes to their weapons rather than changing their play style completely. He realizes now that he needs a new secondary weapon that complements his”Direct shot” weapon rather than becoming a two-footer.
