Bloodline Filming Locations: The Breathtaking Sites In The Show

Written by James White — 0 Views

Bloodline is a Netflix Original thriller series that premiered its first season on March 20th, 2015. The show follows the lives of four grown siblings and how their deepest hidden secrets get revealed when their black sheep brother returns home.

The show released three seasons, with the final season released in 2017. Season one of the show raised a storm among the audience and the critics, and it was much appreciated, though seasons two and three struggled to follow the path the first season had paved.

Even so, the show is an amazing slow-burn family drama that reels you in and gets you hooked. The show has Kyle Chandler as John Rayburn, the second son, and Ben Mendelsohn as the eldest one, Danny Rayburn. Linda Cardellini as Meg Rayburn, the youngest daughter in the family, and Norbert Leo Butz as the youngest son, Kevin Rayburn.

The show has a long list of talented actors contributing heavily to the show. The performances in Bloodline are one more thing that has been consistently praised by viewers and critics. The show’s makers revealed that they wanted the series to have a noir film look, with characters and background settings as real as they could get.

Nobody in the show is ever truly saying what they want to, and the thriller aspect of the show builds upon the fact that the increasing tensions between the family are all simmering under the deceptive mask that the entire family has donned upon their faces.

Another thing that the maker of Bloodline paid immense attention to was the cinematography, to get the right effects and to make things as hyperrealistic as possible. Fans of the show can find below a list of all the beautiful places where the show was shot.

Bloodline’s Filming Locations

Islamorada

It has to be noted that a significant part of the show was shot in this beautiful village in the Florida Keys. Rayburn’s waterfront house, with lively green trees and water as clear as day surrounding the house, is located in this village. This is the area where a heavy portion of the show is shot, not just the house but the village.

The Moorings Village and Spa

The scene where Robert makes a toast to his family while they are there to celebrate their forty-fifth marriage anniversary is shot at this beautiful resort that is in such close proximity to the clear water, fresh air, and lush greenery. This place is one that fans will recognize without a doubt, as it is frequented very often on the show.

In reality, it is called The Blue Charlotte House, and in the show, it was the Rayburn family’s inn and the place that witnessed many dramatic confrontations and emotional scenes.

Robbie’s of Islamorada

The coral marina or Kevin’s boatyard, this place, also located in the village, also had quite a few iconic scenes shot here. The show captured the true essence of the village with the marina and its dock full of different boats and the entire beach business in the background.

This location, too, much like the previous one, was a regular on the show with all the crime and bad deeds and conflicts taking place here, for the most part.

Long Key State Park, Layton, Florida

The intense emotional scene between John and Danny in the first season’s finale, that exhausts not just them but even the viewers, takes place at this breathtaking park. It is well known for its crystal clear, light blue shallow waters, the perfect view for bird-watching, and its boating activities.

This almost feels like the perfect representation of the village, proudly boasting its beauty. It was originally a resort, but in 1935 a hurricane destroyed the entire place, and it was never re-developed. There is another beach that was frequently shown in the series, Anne’s Beach. Many scenes of Robert going Kayaking in the beach’s waters were shown.

Though this beach was also affected by the hurricane, it is open for visitors still.

Key Largo

Many of the bar scenes in the show, especially ones involving Danny, were shot in the Caribbean Club in Key Largo village, in the upper Florida Keys. The Caribbean Club is one of the oldest bars in town, and many of Danny’s scenes were shot at the place.

Another place, the Red Reef Motel, that was in the show was a location in Key Largo, a hotel called Drift Hotel. The two places are immensely famous otherwise, too, as they featured in the 1947 film called Key Largo.
