Illinois’ inability to pay its vendors is adding up to thousands of dollars in overtime costs.
The company Garda World is now working for the state once again. But that’s only after it received a late payment of $79,000.
However they said that payment only covered work through last week. Before that, the Secretary of State’s office had to rely on the agency’s police department to make some of those cash drops.
“Is just a long litany of sins, ills that the state of Illinois should be addressing because we don’t have a budget we’re not addressing,” said Rep. Bill Mitchell. “And it’s shame on the general assembly for not passing a balanced budget.”
Garda world has a $158,000 contract with the secretary of state. A spokesperson sid they had to put cops on the cash drops because no other company wants to work with the state.
